Landmark Restoration In 1995 the Landmarks Conservancy published the sixth edition of its Restoration Directory . Inclusion of FRW in the field of wood architectural restoration was based on work performed at several landmark structures including the Main Branch of The New York Public Library at 42 nd Street , and Grand Central Station. This unique directory, in which a listing is achieved only through a juried selection process, is a guide of landmark qualified contractors for architects, engineers, designers and home owners engaged in the restoration of landmark or simply cherished structures. |
| Refinishing FRW provides a wide variety of routine and specialty finishes including: lacquer, oil, wax, French Polish, varnish, urethane, conversion varnish, polyester and catalytic lacquer. Our finishers can also replicate various types of historic and decorative finishes such as stenciling, graining and marbleizing, as well as gilding in precious or semi-precious metals. Our non-toxic water borne lacquers and urethanes provide an excellent medium for on-site refinishing where obtrusive paint odors would be unacceptable. We can match the proper finish to the proper wood, design, period, meeting durability qualifications or any other requirements as indicated for each piece. |

Upholstery At FRW, almost 2,000 sq. ft. of floor space is dedicated to upholstery. On staff we have upholsterers with combined experience of 80-plus years in the trade. FRW is a true custom upholstery shop. For each piece, a technician will individually cut, sew and install fabrics, as opposed to shops where upholstery is done in assembly line fashion employing cutters, operators and installers. Our fabric selections are as extensive and varied as the furniture they are designed for. Our decorator staff is always available to assist in fabric selection. We can upholster a single piece or an auditorium with speed, efficiency and to individual specification. |
| Millwork It's true that our millwork capacity is limited. But only by the imagination. We produce small cabinet projects for many corporate clients often directly for partners or principals in their companies. If you want to avoid the exhorbitant fees regularly charged by design companies when you already know what you need, we can bring your ideas to reality. Our resume includes fabrication and installation of new wall panels for a damaged building at Ground Zero to small Kiosks/Podiums for one of New York's (in fact the country's) largest and most prestigious law firms. |
